THE MEN WHO SOLD THE MOON (in pre-production): a feature-length documentary chronicling the hitherto untold story of how the concept of human space exploration was sold and marketed to the American people, how support for the most audacious technological achievement in human history was sustained for the better part of a decade, and the battles that raged over it’s ultimate meaning and purpose. The film takes viewers a wild kaleidoscopic ride from the V2 rocket attacks on London in 1944 to Tranquility Base on the Moon in 1969. Based on the book Marketing the Moon (MIT Press 2014).
COLD WAR ROADSHOW will be broadcast on PBS/American Experience on November 14. This latest film from Robert Stone tells the remarkable and bizarre story of Soviet Premier Nikita Khrushchev’s 1959 tour of the United States that very nearly brought an early end to the Cold War.
